the age factor.

One of the things I know I’ve struggled with as a twenty-something is age appropriateness. What is it really? It seems like many people want to shame us into being ‘too old for this‘ or ‘too young for that‘. I’m not just talking about the age factor in relationships. Who was it that decided you should act a certain way at a certain age? As young adults we’ve been thrown into the workforce straight out of college with little time to adapt our lifestyles accordingly. But, what are we adapting, really? We obviously know how to balance work and play seeing as we graduated. And we also know how to be professional seeing as we landed a job. What more can they ask for?

I don’t want to feel guilty for enjoying what’s left of my twenties. I still want to be inappropriate at times. I still want to go out and have fun. I still want to be professional and move ahead in my career. Acting your age no longer needs to have a negative connotation.

Own it. Live it. Enjoy it.
