Remember a time when you had to have a college email address to create a facebook account. Let’s have a moment of silence for that glorious time period. Remember when having a myspace account was the thing to do. Or when AIM kept you connected to everyone across campus. Wasting hours of precious study time to find quote websites for the perfect away message. The old social media has come and gone, and in it’s place we have ten-year-olds making youtube accounts and posting inappropriate things on tumblr.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some new things I enjoy like the twitter, or instagram. People are hilariously creative in 140 characters or less. And my photography skills have soared thanks to “hefe” and “rise”. But, I still long for the days when no one had smart phones and actually looked up while walking.
For now, I’ll ignore the friend request from my eleven-year-old cousin who has a plethora of duck-lipped selfies. Hmm.
